Check if folder where vm stores images and it sub-folders have write permission . Ususlay it's
/images/stories/virtuemart/ for vm2.0
and
/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product
for older vm
/images/stories/virtuemart/ for vm2.0
and
/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product
for older vm

I checked:
Photos demo: http://localhost/jelosa.com/images/stories/virtuemart/product/jacket3-1.png.
new photos: http://localhost/jelosa.com/images/stories/virtuemart/product/occhiali.png.
are equal.
I do enter the picture only if I rename the photos with the names of the products demo.

Does picture appear in folder after you enter it in vm admin?

For example: new product: t-shirt
I load the image in folder: stories / virtuemart / product.---- "http
/ localhost / jelosa.com / images / stories / virtuemart / product / t-shirt.png"
ok --I see the inserted image--
After, this image is resized in virtuemart: shop / media files: “http://localhost/jelosa.com/images/stories/virtuemart/product/resized/t-shirt_200x200.png"---
I load the new product "t-shirt"
I open product image - upload files, I click the image - insert the string: --- "http://localhost/jelosa.com/images/stories/virtuemart/product/t-shirt.png." ---
I click save, and nothing appears. The string is cleared.
is right this procedure?
thank you

If I'am right you are first uploading images using media manager?
That is bad because vm creates database record when it adds image to product. You need to upload image from your computer while you are editing product (form provided gui in product options)
