I like the News Portal template and have purchased it and downloaded it. Our site already contains a lot of data, so starting from scratch and overwriting it with the sample data is not an option.

I installed the template easily per the instructions, but I can see making the modifications to make it look like the demo will be a lot of work.

Is there a step by step guide to assist in setting up the template so that it matches the demo?

We are using Joomla 3.2.3. Site is byzcath.org.

My first task was to update the module positions. Some worked perfectly, others are in the correct position but I see I need to edit the look and font, etc.

My second task was to update the menu. I noticed the example screenshots at Menu Setup are for Joomla 2.X. Joomla 3.X is quite different. The menu works, but the colors are shades of gray rather than the various colors in the demo. How do I set the colors to match the demo menu?

There are other questions I have. Our old template was JA_University. For the content it had three stories, a wide one at the top of the content, then two side by side below it. That was retained when I moved to the News template. But I want the ability to have 10 stories vertically, each filling the horizontal space (like in the demo). How do I set this? It's not obvious in the setup.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response.

I have watched the videos and they are helpful. I wish it was possible to find all the settings to make the menu match without doing a full hotstart (demo data) installation. My expectation was that I would have to configure the menu but that the default template colors would match the sample news portal example demo.

I will do a full installation with demo data in a different directory on the webserver so I can obtain all of the menu settings.

I have other questions I will ask separately.

Thanks again.

I just unzipped the full Joomla hot start files.

Is it possible to simply copy all or a part of the template/hot_news_portal/css file and other files to make the menu work like in the example? If yes, can basic instructions be posted here?

Thanks!

I recommend you to install HotStart instance of the template in temporary folder and then copy all menu settings from this copy to your live site.
