Installing Free Joomla Extensions

After downloading; Clicked extension manager install and the files downloaded are not clickable within joomla. After clicking the zip file...the file expands to show content. The Joomla extension browse and upload does not "choose" the package to upload. New and confused.

Maybe your zip is packed more times than it should?
