Carousel background

What is the best way to change the background of the carousel to a static image?

The options for the background are a specific color or one of the 5 pre-made vignette images that is repeated across the X axis. I was thinking of change one the preset images to my image file but I'm now thinking maybe I should make a new div tag for the area and to comment out the existing code.

The image file we want to use is a wide image that I would want centered on the page. I have made a graphic 1600 x 215 for the space.

What do you recommend?
