Carousel loading photos vertically

On slightly slower internet connections the carousel loads all the photos vertically (IE8 & 7). This temporarily pushes the rest of the content way down the screen until the photos have fully loaded which can be a few seconds on many connections.

Is there any way of forcing them to stack horizontally as they load? This is an excellent feature and the template looks great but would be somewhat spoilt by this.

If site looks OK when it's 100% loaded, then it's OK. We can't judge how a site looks when it's not fully loaded and we don't have a way to optimize look of a site that's only partially loaded.
