display manufacturer in products page

i would like to display in the page of products under the product name, the manufacturer.
How can i do that?
It is possible in virtuemart to define subcategories and then to browse products like that?For example to create subcategories referencing the manufacturer.

Yes, it's possible to have subcategories. When you create a new category, select a category which will be its parent in the Parent drop-down menu.
