Hi!

I currently have Joomla 2.5.8 and Virtuemart 2.0.18a and am using the Furniture Store template.
I see that there is a virtuemart update to version 2.0.10b available.
I am wondering if it will work with this template?

I was going to just do the update but then I read you should never do an update on a live site. I am a newbie and I don't know how to test it somewhere else. How does one do this?

Thank you for your help! - I'm sorry to bother you with such a basic issue.

Best if you create copy. You need to copy files and database. You can create sub folder and copy files there using your hosting file manager. Then go to phpMyAdmin from your cpanel and export database. Create new database and import previously exported .SQL file. At the end open configuration.php in site copy folder and edit parameters. Db, Db user/pass, log path , tmp path. That is it.

Thank you Ivan. A couple of follow up questions...
1) Do I create this sub folder in my hosting account where all the site files are? or on my laptop hard drive? I'm thinking you mean on the hosting account.

2) At end you say open configuration.php in site copy folder and edit parameters. What parameters? Do you mean the Db, DB user/pass, etc. that you listed? If so, what would I change them to?

Thank you!

You can upgrade VirtueMart to Virtuemart 2.0.18b because we tested and it works fine.
In order to make a backup of your site anytime, it's enough to download all site files through FTP and to make a SQL database export through PhpMyAdmin. How to make it is not related to our template, so if you don't know how to backup your site, please consult your hosting provider.
You can also use component such as Akeeba Backup for making Joomla site backups.

Thanks
Milos
