upgrading and updating?

i have been through many days of futility in the updating process and before I do this again...

any advice?

I have finally and successfully updated this template up to joomla 2.5.6. now, i want to update the virtuemart 2.0.0 to 2.0.10. I have tried this process many time prior only to problems.

what is the best methodology to update virtuemart from 2.0.0 to 2.0.10 while keeping the integrity of the website (prior attempts created problems with product details pages, the need to republish images, the backend having glitchy interface with dual headlins, etc.)

You should update manually. First make sure you downloaded right update. On download page you can find for example 2.5.4 - 2.5.6 , you must not miss any for example you have 2.0.0 you can not just take 2.5.0, you must apply all updates that were before that.
