Hot Start Problems - Error 404

So, I could have gotten the installation service abut I really want to learn how to do this so I am not reliant on others. I am trying to do J 2.5 hotstart by following the instructions on the site. I uploaded the files needed, and then the 3rd step says to open http://www.your_site_address.com/joomla/index.php, and replace the "your site..." with your own URL, and "joomla" with the folder on your server where you uploaded the hot start files and I did that but I get Error 404- Page not found. I cannot get beyond this step and it is aggravating. What the *bleep* am I doing wrong? I am going crazy!

public_html is web root folder, move your files there.

Thans, I did that... but I am still getting the Error 404- page not found (address I am putting in now is: www.ashamiel.com/public_html/hot_cosmetics25_hotstart/index.php
