Having this same issue but the above fix did not work. When you place a 'menu' module in the 'left' position it shifts all items appropriately to the right. However, when you add a non-menu module into the 'left' position it overlaps (will not shift right) - similar to the previous example submitted. The example below is of a non 'menu' module. Any suggestions?

You did not do something right , it works when I add that property using chrome inspector.
