Thanks for the info - unfortunately I still have the same problem. As you can see from this page:

I can still only display a maximum of 2 thumbnails in each row - this is despite me specifying 5 thumbnails in the photogallery plugin settings. I notice however that it seems as though the displayed thumbnails are wrapping in groups of 5??? i.e.

1st row -> 2 images
2nd row -> 2 images
3rd row -> 1 image (the first 5)

This same behaviour occurs on the other photogallery example pages included with the template (e.g. cities, people etc) - I have not made any changes to these pages (the only change I have made on my own page is specifying the gallery folder containing my images).

Any help much appreciated as at this rate I am going to have to break up my proposed gallery to avoid displaying a very narrow and deep gallery with unwanted blank space on the right (I don't want to display any text).

Otherwise, you can make 4 images per row, but enter gallery code below the text. In example:
